Free AI Leadership Check

How AI-ready is your organisation?

Thirty statements across strategy, use cases, governance, responsible AI and data. About eight minutes. See where your foundations are strong and where the risk sits.

About you

So we can send you your result and compare like with like.

Strategy

Does AI serve the business strategy, or is it a collection of tools looking for a purpose or problem to solve?

We can say in one sentence what AI is for in our business: cutting cost, closing a skills gap or growing revenue.
Our AI priorities are tied to named goals in the business strategy, not to tools or vendors.
One senior executive owns AI and answers for its results.
AI has its own budget, approved for at least the next twelve months.
We educate our people about AI before we roll out new tools.
We measure the financial return on AI, and we report it to the executive team.

Use cases

Do you know where AI will pay off, and are you willing to stop what does not?

We keep one list of AI use cases across the business, not separate lists in each department.
Every use case is scored on value and on how hard it is to deliver before we fund it.
At least one AI use case is live and in daily use, not stuck in pilot.
Each live use case has a business owner, not only an IT owner.
We agree what success looks like, in numbers, before a pilot starts.
We have stopped at least one AI project because it was not delivering.

Governance

Could you show the board or a regulator who approved your AI, what it touches and what happens when it fails?

We have a written AI policy that staff have read and accepted.
We keep a register of every AI tool in use, including free tools staff use on their own.
New AI tools go through a clear approval step before anyone uses them on company data.
The board, or a board committee, receives regular reports on AI risk.
We know which laws and rules apply to our AI use, including POPIA.
We have a procedure for when an AI tool gets something wrong or leaks data.

Responsible AI and ethics

Would you be comfortable if your customers and staff saw exactly how you use AI?

We have agreed principles for how we will and will not use AI.
A person reviews AI outputs before they affect customers, staff or money.
We test AI tools for bias before using them in decisions about people, such as hiring or credit.
We tell customers when they are dealing with AI rather than a human.
We have been open with staff about how AI will change their jobs.
Anyone can raise a concern about an AI tool without fear, and we act on it.

Data

Is your data ready for AI, and protected from it?

We know where our most important data lives and who owns each data set.
Our core data is accurate and complete enough to trust in a decision.
Teams can get the data they need without weeks of manual work.
Staff know which data must never be put into an AI tool.
Our contracts with AI vendors say where our data goes and whether it is used to train their models.
We treat our data as a business asset, and we measure and improve its quality.
